Last quilt of 2015

After I posted the other day about my first quilt this year, I realized that I never posted the last quilt I made for 2015.

It was a gift for my faux-mom. (I like that term better than step-mom)

She and my Father spend a great deal of time outdoors and near the water. Canoeing, kayaking, etc. I wanted this quilt to invoke the feeling of water and reflection.

I kept it simple with half square triangles in blue, grey, white and green. The quilting was all organic straight line with a little bit of "wave" to signify water.

I don't remember the exact size, but it was big enough to be used as a lap quilt.

[01.2016]

I completed the first quilt for 2016. A custom order. The front of the quilt is based off of the "Postcards from Sweden" pattern by Robert Kauffman.

I didn't follow the pattern per se. More like I dug through my solids and grabbed what I thought the color should look like. You may see some variations.
I had this pattern on my radar for awhile.
The color is so happy and bright. I am really tempted to make one for myself.

The back of the quilt features t-shirts, a fun collection from a tween girl, who I hope loves the quilt. The fabric used from the back was sent in with the t-shirts.

The finished size is 54 inches by 67 inches.
Great start to the new year !
