Max is done. Finally, after a few days of setbacks. One being a hospital visit and the other being a mis-calculation of fabric for the back. Hence the white stripe along the middle. I like it though.

{Max and Sophia}
The top to "Max" is done and the top to "Sophia" is done.
Surprised you with that one huh ? I started Sophia on Friday.
Thursday night I made another trip into Joann's to see if my white fabric was back. It wasn't on the shelf, so I asked. One lady started digging into the new stuff but didn't find it. I was just about to walk out the door when a different employee asked to see my project and when I told her my dilemma, she told me to hold on and she dug around in the same cart of fabrics and found the one I needed. I told her I loved her and I meant it.
Then Friday morning I finished the top edges on "Max" and started playing around with the scraps of pink (love my pink polka dots) and voila "Sophia" was made.
Anyway, I didn't get much done this weekend. I have the back and binding for both quilts, just a matter of cutting it all out and sewing it together. Gives me something to do this week.
"Sophia" wasn't my something different, I am still working out the idea in my head. Although it was different in the sense that I didn't use squares, and that I used alot of white.
"Max" will be a crib sized quilt when finished and "Sophia" will be a little smaller than crib sized. Stroller sized maybe ?

no-name quilt
My newest work-in-progress. No name quilt. I think it looks like a Max maybe ? I don't know anyone named Max so it's a stretch.
The top is almost all done. See the white boring fabric ? Well I ran out (I was using the left-overs from Myra's quilt) it's something that Joann's carries all the time, huge bolts of it sitting there never being used. I went in today to grab a yard or two and go figure there was none.
This is what it started as, just some fabrics that I knew I wanted to use. I cut them all out in my usual shape (square, always square) and then started to play. I wanted it to be random, but it just wasn't working.
This is what I came up with. I am sure there is an official name for this type of pattern. I am too lazy to find it though.

I will wait a few days and check again. No hurry. I don't know what I am going for the back anyway so that gives me time to think about it.
My next quilt is going to be different for me. I already have the idea brewing in my noggin.

lauren's quilt
Again with the Alexander Henry prints. This quilt I managed to make within about 3 days. I had sent a little blankie to Amy's daughter Mango and her older daughter Lauren needed a little something to.
So I made her this. Funky and fun quilt. Because of my huge irrational fear of machine quilting I just used tied this one together with some pale pink thread. I also used pale pink quilters flannel on the back.
If I remember right it was a little larger than a crib quilt, but smaller than a twin size.
According to Amy when Lauren opened the box and saw the quilt she screamed.

myra's quilt
I started this one after browsing Etsy and being inspired by all the colors and sizes and textures.
I had no idea what size I wanted it to be, only what colors and what fabrics I wanted to use. Pink, pink and lots of pink. I was
big on not wanting to buy anything new, so I dug around in my fabric and found fabric that would work together. I am really in love with the Alexander Henry stuff.
Bold graphic flowers. Love it.
I sewed the top in one weekend. Once I start
something I keep going until it's done or I mess it up, whichever comes first. Once that was done I picked a cute pink (of course) paisley for the back and then I hit a road block. I HATE doing the machine quilting. I can never get it right. I called a quilt shop and they knew
of some people that take in work and would be willing to quilt the top.
Except I was running out of time, so I took a deep breath and did it myself. I kept it nice and easy and just did basic straight quilting lines. Once that was done all I had left was the binding, which is wicked easy now that I *understand* what the heck I am doing.
I managed to get it done with about one day to spare.
It ended up being a crib size quilt and it was a birthday gift for my niece Myra.
